I’m really enjoying making these little paintings: the sun, breezes, glimpses of birds, so much to enjoy outside. The next several weeks will be pretty thin art-wise for me (day job) so painting outside is a little like an innoculation against all the dreary indoor work I have in the weeks ahead.

It’s been a busy couple weeks at my day job, but I did get out to paint several days ago. I was drawn to this scene because of the darker sky and shadows across the path.

One of the best things about being up at the lake is watching the sun set. I’m not sure this little painting does the scene justice, but for my first sunset/nocturne I’m pleased with the effort.

Here is my second painting of Smith Point on Lower Fishing Lake in Narrow Hills Provincial Park. As you can see the skies eventually cleared and we were treated to a sunny, although very windy, day.

I just got back from a trip up north to Lower Fishing Lake in Narrow Hills Provincial Park. I’ve always loved looking at Smith Point and painted it three times on this trip – the above is my first effort.
